Domestic students
Undergraduate students who attend the University of Houston who has been registered in 6 or more credit hours (3 for summer session) are eligible to sign up for coverage in the UH student health insurance plan endorsed in the posted open registration time period.
Graduate students attending the University of Houston who has been listed in the credits of 3 or more are eligible to apply for coverage on the UH student health insurance plan endorsed in the open registration period of time posted.
Decent domestic students can sign up directly through the academic health plan during the open enrollment period each semester.
International students
International students with a visa status "F" or "J " are required to be covered under the student health insurance plan UHS or have equivalent health insurance, regardless of the number of credit hours taken.
At the time of registration, students are automatically enrolled in the compulsory health insurance student UHS supported plan (ship) and will be charged for the period of coverage in student financial accounts.

How to get insurance ID Card
Student health insurance, the University of Houston's ID can be obtained online by accessing the blue access for members (BAM) website.
- New insurance ID cards will not be sent out each academic year.
- Students should review their accounts insurance and submit a request to receive the insurance ID card.
Health insurance information for new graduates
